Financial Aid

Penn Commercial takes pride in helping prospective and current students with the Financial Aid process. The Financial Aid Department will assist in the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Not only does Penn Commercial participate in Title IV programs, but various institutional scholarships are also offered. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. You must meet the following basic eligibility requirements to be considered for financial aid:

  • You must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen as defined by the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
  • You must demonstrate a financial need (as determined by your Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • You must be enrolled on at least a half-time basis in an approved undergraduate program of study.
  • You must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • You must be a PA resident (if applying for PA State aid).
  • You must demonstrate academic progress to continue receiving aid.

Types of Financial Aid

  • Grant money may be available to you, which does not have to be paid back.
  • You can also apply for a Student Loan. This type of loan is paid back on a payment plan (after you are out of school) at a low rate of interest.
  • You may also be able to get a scholarship award to help with your schooling costs. Click here to learn more about scholarship opportunities.
  • Depending upon your personal situation, there are other outlets for financial aid. For example:
    • Veterans may be able to receive education benefits through the Veteran’s Administration.
    • The Washington – Greene Job Training Agency may be able to assist you.
    • Career Link may be able to assist you (Washington County: 724-229-1361; Greene County: 724-852-2900)
    • The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation provides aid and support services to students with hearing, sight, and other disabilities and to those with dependency issues.
    • The United Mine Workers Association may be able to assist you.
    • Check with labor unions, private businesses, and civic clubs that you and/or your parents have a connection with. Some of them offer scholarships and other types of aid to students.

Penn Commercial administers all aid programs without regard to sex, physical disability, race, creed, or national origin.
